We are here: CCPP
The 217 MW Jegurupadu CCPP Phase 1, commissioned in 1997, has become a benchmark amongst private power plants in the country. Being India's first Independent Power Plant, it displays farsighted design features that enhance operational efficiencies and minimize environmental impact. It has been described as a 'horticulture project that also generates electricity' and a 'metaphor of industrial ecology.'
The 228 MW CCPP Phase 2, an expansion of Phase 1 commenced operations in 2009 and has a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with AP Transco. With CCPP Phase 1 and Phase 2, the Jegurupadu plant has a combined capacity of 445 MW. Further, as part of its development plans, GVK is working on an expansion project (Phase 3) with a capacity of 800 MW.
To anchor growth in the energy sector, GVK has set up another 469 MW dual fuel power project in Peddapuram, Andhra Pradesh. It has a PPA with the APDISCOM for fifteen years and a Ground Support Agreement with GAIL for the life term of the PPA. A green belt has been developed in 99 acres and over one lakh trees have been planted in the vicinity of the plant as part of the environmental sustainability initiatives. GVK is also working on an expansion project (Phase 2) with a capacity of 800 MW.
