GVK has developed a 330 MW hydro project on the river Alaknanda in Tehri/ Pauri Garhwal District of Uttarakhand. It has a 90 m high (from deepest foundation level) dam. A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) has been signed with the state of Uttar Pradesh and 12% output will be given free to the state of Uttarakhand.
The Ratle Hydro Electric project located on river Chenab in the state of Jammu & Kashmir is planned to be developed as a run-of-the river scheme. This is the first Hydro Power Project in the country awarded on tariff based International Competitive Bidding (ICB) process for development of the project on BOOT basis for a period of 35 years. It has an underground power house having four units of 205 MW each and in addition a 30 MW plant, totalling an installed capacity of 850 MW. The Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) has been executed between Power Development Department, Go J&K and GVK Ratle Hydro Electric Project Pvt. Ltd.
The Hon'ble PM Dr. Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Smt. Sonia Gandhi laid the Foundation Stone for the Ratle HEP at Kishtwar, J&K. The development of the project will lead to the overall economic and social development of the community as well.
This 346 MW power project is being developed in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand. This will be a merchant power plant for GVK. The Government of Uttarakhand has granted its approval for the preparation of a Detailed Project Report for a single integrated project, combining both the projects (146 MW + 200 MW). 12% output from this project will be given free of cost to the state of Uttarakhand.
