Overview

GVK is a leading Indian conglomerate with diversified interests across various sectors including energy, airports, transportation, hospitality and life sciences. It has taken pioneering initiatives across many sectors that it operates in and has overcome every challenge to provide reliable infrastructure to contribute to the country’s growth. GVK’s greatest strength is its highly experienced and proficient in-house talent pool. GVK’s collaboration with global infrastructure leaders has brought international expertise to India reflecting excellence and advancement in all its endeavours.

Having already invested over Rs. 25,000 crore (USD 3.7 billion) the company has projects worth over another Rs. 17,000 crore (USD 2.6 billion) in the pipeline, in India. GVK has pioneered various infrastructure projects viz. setting up India’s first Independent Power Plant (IPP), first six-lane road project and first Brownfield airport under the Public Private Partnership model.

GVK has over 1562 MW cumulative capacity under generation.

GVK manages and operates India’s first brownfield airport – the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai and has also won the mandate to build and operate India’s largest Greenfield airport at Navi Mumbai. GVK also managed India’s first Greenfield Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), Bengaluru from 2009 to 2017 and launched a new terminal. GVK also conceptualized and worked on finalizing the design of the unique “Terminal within a garden” for the upcoming Terminal 2. However, in July, 2017, GVK divested it’s entire shareholding in Bangalore International Airport Ltd., to Fairfax India Holdings Corporation and exited the management.

GVK is a socially responsible and an environmentally conscious organization. It undertakes all infrastructure projects with a commitment to minimize ecological impact. GVK implements its CSR initiatives through GVK Foundation which has extended initiatives in areas like providing emergency response services, housing for under-privileged people, education, health and hygiene, community-based programs, empowerment and entrepreneurship development, arts, music, sports and a number of other socio-economic activities. GVK’s CSR initiatives include:

  • Provided housing facilities to 1000 underprivileged people in Kothur village of Nellore in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
  • Set up a tennis academy in Hyderabad to promote the sport in the country.
  • Set up a degree college at Indukurupet village in Nellore District of Andhra Pradesh which offers quality education to students from surrounding areas. The GVK Foundation also sponsors and provides scholarships for students across disciplines.

GVK EMRI (108 Emergency Management and Research Institute) is a pioneer in Emergency Management Services in India. As a not–for–profit organisation operating in the Public Private Partnership mode, GVK EMRI is the world’s largest Emergency Service Provider. The GVK EMRI attends to every emergency situation; be it a medical crisis, law and order situation or a fire disaster. This service is spread across 16 States and two Union Territories with around 50,000 employees and 13,000 ambulances catering to over 850 million people.
