Dr. GVK Reddy is the Founder Chairman & Managing Director of GVK,
a diversified business conglomerate within interests across energy, resources, airports, transportation, hospitality and life sciences sectors. Over the years, Dr. Reddy has established GVK as a key infrastructure player with interests in Indian and international markets.
Realizing India’s huge growth potential and the need for strong foundation of infrastructure to sustain this growth, Dr. GVK Reddy pioneered the development of infrastructural projects by setting up India’s first independent power plant in Andhra Pradesh in 1997. Besides CCPP (gas/naphtha based) Power Plants, the company has expanded its footprint in the energy sector by setting up Thermal (coal based) and Hydro Power Projects as well.
GVK revolutionized the road development projects in India with the development of first privately operated six-lane Jaipur-Kishangarh Expressway in Rajasthan.
With his far-sightedness and entrepreneurial skills, Dr. GVK Reddy was instrumental in leading GVK’s foray into the aviation sector by taking up the modernization ofChhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA), Mumbai, which is considered as one of the world’s most challenging infrastructure projects. GVK further strengthened its presence in the aviation sector by taking over the development of Bengaluru International Airport. Both these airports together handle around 44 million passengers annually, accounting for more than one-fourth of India’s total air traffic.
Envisioning the importance of fuel security, GVK has acquired a strategic equity stake in the Australian Coal Mines with 8 billion tonne reserves and a rail and port project which would become one of the largest coal mining operations in the world. GVK has entered the field of captive coal mining in Jharkhand as part of its backward integration strategy to meet the requirements of its thermal projects in India.
It has also ventured into oil and gas exploration with six exploration blocks off the west coast of India.
Giving an outline to Dr. Reddy’s vision and values of Indian hospitality, TAJGVK has set up premium hotels in Hyderabad, Chandigarh and Chennai and will also set up a hotel project each in Mumbai and Bengaluru.
Under his direction, GVK Biosciences has emerged as India’s leading Contract Research Organization with a rapidly growing client base of global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and academic institutions.
Dr. GVK Reddy has been recognized for his dynamism, outstanding brilliance and invaluable contribution to the field of entrepreneurship and social upliftment. He was conferred with one of the highest civilian honours’ of Padma Bhushan by the Government of India in 2011 and has been bestowed with the honorary title, “Doctor of Philosophy” by the renowned Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, India.
Dr. GVK Reddy is recognized for his benevolent spirit evident from his commitment to the cause of the development of society. He heads GVK EMRI which provides emergency response services across 12 states and 2 UTs attending to 400 million people and saving lakhs of lives. He has set up GVK Foundation which provides education and civic amenities like housing, drinking water and health care to underprivileged people. Dr. Reddy is associated with the Raja Bahadur Venkatarama Reddy Educational Society and Vivek Vardhini Education Society. He has also set up many schools to make quality education available to the less fortunate children of our society.
Being a tennis enthusiast himself, Dr. GVK Reddy encourages sports and has set up a tennis academy in Hyderabad to groom aspiring youngsters in this sport. He has been sponsoring events such as the Afro-Asian Games held in Hyderabad in 2001 and the GVK AITA Veterans Tennis Championships since 1999.

As Vice Chairman of GVK Power and Infrastructure Limited, he leads GVK’s businesses in key areas of infrastructure such as energy, resources, airports and transportation that are vital for India to fulfill its tremendous potential and for its economic development.
Mr. G V Sanjay Reddy’s efforts and farsighted vision of ensuring fuel security have enabled GVK to acquire a strategic equity stake in the Australian Coal Mines, a rail and port project to set us one of world’s largest coal mining operations, thus ensuring fuel security for the company. The acquisition was rightly rated as the “Asia Deal of the Year”.
As Managing Director of Mumbai International Airport Pvt. Ltd., he is instrumental in shaping the transformation of India’s busiest airport, the CSIA, Mumbai which is a one-of-its-kind and most challenging airport modernization projects in the world. He is also the Managing Director of Bengaluru International Airport Limited and is leading the expansion of Bengaluru International Airport as a Gateway to South India.
He is on the Board of Directors of the TAJGVK Hotels and Resorts Ltd. and has played a
significant role in setting up premium hotel projects in Hyderabad, Chandigarh and Chennai.
Mr. G V Sanjay Reddy was instrumental in setting up GVK Biosciences in 2001 and currently heads as its Vice Chairman. GVK Biosciences has emerged as India’s leading Contract Research Organization with a rapidly growing client base of global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and academic institutions.
Mr. G V Sanjay Reddy is the Vice Chairman of GVK EMRI, a pioneer in Emergency Management Services in India and a not-for-profit organization operating under the PPP model. EMRI, country’s only professional emergency service provider, serves eleven State and 2 Union Territories.
Mr. G V Sanjay describes his passion for excellence as his core competency. Educated in the United States, he combines his professional expertise and knowledge with a global perspective and a practical approach to business. He holds a Bachelor’s in industrial engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
Mr. G V Sanjay Reddy was recently elected as Chairman of CII, Southern Region for 2012-13. He actively participates and contributes to various programs of national interest through forums like Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO), Mindmine Summit and the prestigious Jagdish and Kamla Mittal Museum of Indian Art. He has also declared as the "Emerging Business Leader of the Year" by AIMA Managing India Awards, in 2011.
