a diversified business enterprise with interests in a wide range of businesses including
power generation, airport operations, roads, urban infrastructure, bio-science,
hospitality services and manufacturing. In the last four decades, GVK Reddy has
established GVK as a key infrastructure player with interests in India and the international markets.
Realising India’s huge growth potential and the need for core infrastructure to
support this growth, Dr. GVK Reddy envisioned the setting up of a private power
project in Andhra Pradesh. The embodiment of his pioneering spirit was the setting
up of the Jegurupadu power project in 1997, which was India's first independent
power plant for which Dr. Reddy is widely credited in industry circles.
Known for his foresight and entrepreneurship, in 2006, he was instrumental in leading
GVK’s foray into the booming aviation sector by winning the bid to modernize the
Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA). This led to the formation of Mumbai
International Airport Pvt. Ltd (MIAL) which currently operates India’s second busiest
airport. The transformation of CSIA is considered to be one of the most challenging
infrastructure projects in the world. In 2010, GVK acquired a 29% stake in the Bengaluru
International Airport. Both airports together handle close to 35 million passengers
annually.
GVK Reddy has been recognized for his dynamism, outstanding brilliance and invaluable
contribution to the field of entrepreneurship and social improvement. He was conferred
with the civilian honour of Padma Bhushan by the Government of India in 2011. He
has also been conferred a honorary title, Doctor of Philosophy by the prestigious
Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, India. Additionally he has also been
recognised for his benevolent spirit and this is evident from his commitment to
the cause of the development of society. He has been sponsoring and supporting underprivileged
students in the field of education and has been associated with the Raja Bahadur
Venkatarama Reddy Educational Society and Vivek Vardhini Education Society. He has
also been instrumental in establishing schools to make quality education available
to the less fortunate.

On 24th March, 2011. Dr. GVK Reddy received India's third highest civilian award
the Padma Bhushan from the President of India, Srimati Pratiba Patil.
Mr. G V Sanjay Reddy holds multiple positions and plays a key management role in GVK, one of India’s eminent business conglomerates.
As Vice Chairman of GVK Power and Infrastructure Limited, he leads GVK’s businesses in key areas of infrastructure such as energy, resources, airports and transportation that are vital for India to fulfill its tremendous potential and for its economic development.
Mr Sanjay Reddy’s efforts and farsighted vision of ensuring fuel security have enabled GVK to acquire a strategic equity stake in the Hancock Coal Mines, a rail and port project to set us one of world’s largest coal mining operations, thus ensuring fuel security for the company. The acquisition was rightly rated as the “Asia Deal of the Year”.
As Managing Director of Mumbai International Airport Pvt. Ltd., he is instrumental in shaping the transformation of India’s busiest airport, the CSIA, Mumbai which is a one-of-its-kind and most challenging airport modernization projects in the world. He is also the Managing Director of Bengaluru International Airport Limited and is leading the expansion of Bengaluru International Airport as a Gateway to South India.
He is on the Board of Directors of the Taj GVK Hotels and Resorts Ltd. and has played a
significant role in setting up premium hotel projects in Hyderabad, Chandigarh and Chennai.
Mr Sanjay Reddy was instrumental in setting up GVK Biosciences in 2001 and currently heads as its Vice Chairman. GVK Biosciences has emerged as India’s leading Contract Research Organization with a rapidly growing client base of global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and academic institutions.
Mr Sanjay Reddy is the Vice Chairman of GVK EMRI, a pioneer in Emergency Management Services in India and a not-for-profit organization operating under the PPP model. EMRI, country’s only professional emergency service provider, serves 11 State and two Union Territories.
Mr Sanjay describes his passion for excellence as his core competency. Educated in the United States, he combines his professional expertise and knowledge with a global perspective and a practical approach to business. He holds a Bachelor’s in industrial engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
Mr Sanjay Reddy was recently elected as Chairman of CII, Southern Region for 2012-13. He actively participates and contributes to various programs of national interest through forums like Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO), Mindmine Summit and the prestigious Jagdish and Kamla Mittal Museum of Indian Art. He has also declared as the "Emerging Business Leader of the Year" by AIMA Managing India Awards, in 2011.
Mr Sanjay was among the 25 Indians chosen as Young Global Leaders 2007 by the World Economic Forum and was primarily selected for his professional accomplishments, commitment to society and the potential to contribute to shaping a better future.
