GVK made its foray into the aviation sector when it bagged the
mandate to operate, manage and develop Chhatrapati Shivaji
International Airport (CSIA) in Mumbai. Mumbai International Airport
Limited (MIAL) is currently implementing a master plan that has
been designed to have an integrated passenger terminal at Sahar by
2013, to cater to passenger traffic of 40 million per annum. MIAL's
Vision is to transform CSIA into one of the world's best airports that
consistently delights customers and to be the pride of Mumbai.
GVK further increased its presence in the airports sector with the
acquisition of 43% stake in Bengaluru International Airport, which
is in line with GVK’s strategic objective of expanding into airport
business.
GVK handles a total traffic of 44 million passengers per annum,
making it India’s largest private sector airport operator.
The successful CSIA, Mumbai and BIAL, Bengaluru ventures have earned international recognition for GVK. GVK will also develop two airports in Yogyakarta and Bali, Indonesia.
The Indonesian Government has invited GVK to develop two new airports in Bali and Yogyakarta. GVK has already completed the feasibility analysis for
both the airports and the process of preparing the master plan will
begin shortly.
